http://www.heather-williams.com/  Where do I start?  Heather embodies the description of “fearless”- as  she wrote in Push it to the Limit “Sometimes I may win, sometimes I may lose….no matter where I stand, I always stand for truth!”- and stand she does, just not in one place for more than a split second it seems.

To be honest, I really don’t know how she fits it all into a day.  Starts typically running (literally) and runs hard  from her roles in real estate, contractor, rock star, competitive racer, athlete, troop moral impresario  and model/TV star. (Whew I get tired just thinking about it) 

I first  met Heather early after she began  her “Rock ‘n’ Soldier” campaign, she makes home made treats and  also  packs up  pictures and CD’s guitars- you name it! to send to our troops deployed in harms way to keep us safe here at home.

I’d requested her as a friend on facebook and instantly was impressed by both her genuine kindness and high energy level.

Her creativity and marketing acumen totally blew me away,  I’d not hesitate to recommend her for any project you’d consider collaborating on with  Heather, I  was proud to do a  small part in  her project sending those packages to the troops (she makes friends with them on the social networks)  to  help fund this &  I’d ask everyone to consider putting their name on her gear too.   Her  bio  and resume back up the attitude, check it out, the list of accomplishments is staggering, especially considering  the injuries and  pain that  would cause many to take themselves out of the “game” !

I cannot think of a more fitting  person to post for independence day!  She’s fiercely competitive, her heart’s as big as the outdoors – hot -  brilliant & as beautiful as any fireworks display!  Yes,  that  comes close I’d say- love you Heather I’m proud to  be able to call you my friend & give you this  praise too!  Yeah I’ll be in your “band” any time SUPERSTAR!!   Go see Heather on tour & tell her timeline Tim says hello please, if you do – bet she’ll grin

This property has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior, Arkansas Historic Preservation Society.The FlagandBanner.com headquarters and storefront resides in the same building as the historic Taborian Hall and the Dreamland Ballroom that once showcased legendary musicians of the 1930’s.  Stately Taborian Hall, located on the corner of Ninth and State Streets, is the only remaining historic building on West Ninth, a testimony to the street’s former vibrancy and glory days as Little Rock’s “Little Harlem.” Once known as Taborian Temple, it was built for the African American fraternal insurance organization, the Knights and Daughters of the Tabor. Construction began on the Classical building in 1916 by local black contractor, Simeon Johnson, and was completed in 1918. Over 1,500 fraternal members attended the dedication of Taborian Temple in that year. Additionally, in August, 1918, a Negro Soldiers Club opened informally on the ground floor, providing a recreational center for African American soldiers stationed at nearby Camp Pike.Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, Taborian Temple housed many commercial endeavors including professional offices for Dr. J. V. Jordan, dentist, and Dr. W. B. Black, physician, the Gem Pharmacy, the Ritz Beer Garden, and the Dreamland Grill.  By 1937, the Dreamland Ballroom was firmly established on Taborian’s third floor. The popular dancehall with its famous “swing floor” was a hotbed for big bands, jazz, and blues, and the scene for dances, socials, and basketball games. It was a regular stop for the “Chittlin’ Circuit,” a national touring company of professional black entertainers, revues, and stage shows.With the advent of World War II, the United Service Club, USO, bought the building and turned the first to the third floors into a club that served thousands of black soldiers from Camp Robinson (formerly Camp Pike) and the Stuttgart Air Base. The Dreamland ripped and rollicked during those war years and beyond with legendary musical artists including “Fatha” Earl Hines, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, and Ella Fitzgerald, and comedians Redd Foxx and Sammie Davis. Local stars cut their musical teeth in the Dreamland too including Blind Al Hibbler, Louis Jordan, the Yellowjackets, and Lloyd Armon and his Orchestra.In 1954, the Temple became known as Taborian Hall, and housed three nightclubs: Twin City Club was in the basement; the Waiters Club was located on the second floor; and the Dreamland had morphed into Club Morocco, with an emphasis on “rock.” During the 1950s, “The Blues Boy” B.B. King brought his “Three O’Clock Blues” to the premier night spot along with “Famous Blind Singing Star” Ray Charles who sang “Little Rockers” into hysterics with “Midnight Hour,” and “Roll With My Baby.” Throughout the early 1960s, Taborian Hall’s musical legacy remained strong, but by 1970 had ended.

In 1991, Kerry McCoy, purchased Taborian Hall as a new home for her business, Arkansas Flag and Banner. Through Ms. McCoy’s efforts, the building has been preserved. She is now in the preliminary stages of renovating the legendary Dreamland Ballroom, an effort to save and to share this magnificent auditorium with the community. The million dollar renovation project is expected to break ground in 2011, with completion targeted for 2012. The New Dreamland Ballroom will reopen as an event center and be available to rent in late 2012. Local architectural firm, Heiple & Wiedower, is leading restoration efforts on Dreamland Ballroom.

any how we have a certain amount of spiritual  remnants in the area- I was lucky enough to  start  trying to  document this (and a few other venues) that no longer open.What a sad duty to relay this place burned to the ground and all kinds of memorabilia  lost forever- all you can do is pull over at the Rock ‘n’ Roll HIghway 67 Road-sign  out in front (South of Jct. 226 near Lawrence County Line)

The Virginia-Born performer had a successful career off Broadway and in TV and film before launching her music career after a chance encounter with a songwriter while shooting the CMT reality show “Popularity Contest”

“Some Assembly Required” by Marthia Sides is more than simply a witty and rollicking new single about the frustrations of finding a perfect man. Its title is also a spot on reflection of the many different ways to approach the story of the multi-talented, classically trained singer/songwriter’s rise as an indie artist since the release of her 2006 debut Born Again In The Country.

But perhaps the most intriguing part of Sides’ story is how a multi-talented performer who lived in New York for seven years and found success in every area of the entertainment world ultimately became a formidable country/pop singer/songwriter. One of her notable roles in her Off Broadway career was in “Alice in Wonderland,” and her film and TV roles included appearances on HBO, Comedy Central, TLC, and HGTV. This leap from the Big Apple requires a bit of off road traveling to the small town of Vega, Texas, population 900, the site of Country Music Television’s reality performance competition show “Popularity Contest .” Her agent suggested she audition for any show where she could show off her musical talent. When she got picked, her unique performance background earned her the nickname “the NYC Opera Singer”—even though she hadn’t sung opera in years.While pursuing her musical dreams, Sides has never been shy about giving her time and talent to the needs of those less fortunate. Her sister runs a New York based organization called Operation Smile, which raises funds for large reconstructive surgeries on children with facial deformities; Sides has performed numerous shows and participated in many fundraising events for them. In September 2009, she joined her best friend, opera singer Jessica Johnson (who co-wrote “I Got Faith” with Marthia) on a march dedicated to the cause of anti-human trafficking that took place in Washington, D.C., New York and Los Angeles. Sides also performed for her fellow participants in the event, which was sponsored by Virginia Stop Modern Slavery (VASMS), a grassroots community organization promoting anti-human trafficking efforts in Virginia.

The assembly of the parts of Marthia Sides’ life wouldn’t be complete without a mention of the amazing performing and musical talent that’s part of her family history. Her great grandma was a young, Italian born vaudeville star who sang and danced under the name “Barazzo” at places like the Beale Street Palace. Her grandmother was an opera singer who was once asked to participate in the Met’s Young Artist program. And her paternal grandfather was Elvis Presley’s engineer at American Studios, where The King recorded after his years at Sun Studio. Her dad was also an engineer who sang.
